The mission of LearnSkin is to facilitate the discovery and application of new knowledge in cutaneous science to clinical practice by employing needs assessment data, identified professional education, and clinical treatment gaps. LearnSkin’s programs are designed to improve knowledge, competence, performance, and patient outcomes by improving the quality and safety in dermatology and aesthetics.

Target Audience

LearnSkin’s continuing education programs serve healthcare professionals from multiple specialties and subspecialties. Our audience is comprised of local, national, and international healthcare professional with interest in broadening their knowledge about skin disease and health. These healthcare professionals may be physicians, academicians, clinical researchers, patients, nurses, pharmacists, physician assistants and other practitioners. LearnSkin’s content is appropriate for specialists as well as generalists who may not be practicing dermatology but are looking to work synergistically with dermatologists and other skin health experts.

Type of Activities

The educational format is determined based on the type of professional gaps revealed in the needs assessment (i.e. knowledge, competence and/or performance gaps). LearnSkin offers activities, such as enduring material, symposia, and workshops, that allow learners to advance their competence and performance in caring for patients with skin diseases and aesthetic treatments.

Expected Results

LearnSkin’s educational programs intend to increase learners’ competence, improve outcomes for patients with skin disease, and support the advancement of dermatology and aesthetic education. Attendees are expected to practically apply the knowledge and skills gained through our continuing education activities to their patient care practices. Activities are currently evaluated by subjective attendee assessments. For some activities, aggregated objective data is used to measure overall improvement in clinical care and professional practice. It is the goal of LearnSkin’s continuing education programs to continually improve outcomes and measure the effectiveness of its activities to provide the highest quality education.
