Course: Skin Rollers
Skin Rollers for Beauty - How Do They Work?

This course will provide an evidence-based evaluation of the utility of skin rollers and how they possibly confer benefits for facial rejuvenation. We first address common facial lymphatic patterns then discuss different mechanisms by which skin rollers may aid in restoring a more youthful appearance. Finally, we briefly present different variations of skin rollers.

Ryan Kelm

Ryan C. Kelm is a current PGY2 Dermatology resident at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. He completed his undergraduate training at The University of Oklahoma, graduating with a B.S. in Chemical Biology and a minor in Entrepreneurship. During his time in medical school, he took a year off to pursue research in the Department of Dermatology clinical trials unit at Northwestern in Chicago, IL. Throughout this appointment, he published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and gave presentations on his research at national meetings. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma Health and Sciences Center Medical school as a member of Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. His interests are procedural dermatology and skin cancer. In addition, he is interested in learning how artificial intelligence will impact healthcare and applying these models and innovations to healthcare systems.

As a Washington DC insider she developed her career as a leader and expert in the saturated world of skincare and beauty. As one of the youngest CEO's in her field she grew her skincare mecca 10 fold in 5 years. She is known as a industry leader in skincare having influence over the development and branding of some of the top beauty products in the world. Dr. Lily is a leading expert on the board at Frontline Media where she has written over 100 articles on skincare and cosmetics, Dr. Talakoub is a name media insiders trust. She is a regular expert on the news, has over 150 written media pieces in magazines such as INStyle, New Beauty, Cosmopolitan, Allure etc and is a national trainer and lead injection expert for Allergan.

Dr. Naissan Wesley is an Advanced Aesthetic and Surgical Dermatologist and the Director of Mohs micrographic surgery at Skin Care and Laser Physicians of Beverly Hills. Board-certified and fellowship-trained in cosmetic, surgical dermatology, and Mohs surgery, Dr. Wesley graduated magna cum laude with high honors in biology and art history from University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA). As one of the top college graduates in the nation, she was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. Dr. Wesley completed her medical school and residency at University of California San Francisco (UCSF), where she also graduated at the top of her class and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. At UCSF, she was recipient of the Chancellor Award for Martin Luther King, Jr. Leadership (awarded to only one student annually among all graduate schools) and the National Medical Association’s Emerging Scholar Award. She completed her Mohs, cosmetic and surgical dermatology fellowship at Skin Care Physicians in Boston, MA.

Dr. Wesley is a Clinical Instructor of Dermatologic Surgery at UCLA. She has over 20 honors and awards, authored over 40 publications in leading medical journals and has been quoted in magazines and news outlets nationwide. Dr. Wesley is recognized as a monthly invited journalist for the aesthetic section of Dermatology News since 2009. She was also the guest editor of the first ethnic skin issue of Seminars of Cutaneous Medicine and Surgery.

Dr. Wesley has been an investigator in numerous research studies that have contributed to many of the most cutting-edge procedures performed today in cosmetic dermatology, including Juvederm Voluma, Kybella, Xeomin, Dysport, Ulthera, Coolsculpting, Thermage, Velashape, Artefill, and Miradry.

Dr. Wesley is sought after for her aesthetic skill and ability to rejuvenate faces and skin. From a family of artists and physicians, and with an art background, Dr. Wesley’s approach is that of an artist and a scientist, creating extraordinarily natural results that do not appear overdone.
