Melasma remains a common yet challenging skin pigmentary condition to manage. The therapeutic approach combines skin lightening modalities along with prevention and control of recurrence, while tranexamic acid is increasingly being utilized to improve clinical outcomes. In this course, the reader will gain insight into tranexamic acid's unique role in treating melasma, its mechanism, and its applications.

Dr. Tin is a board-certified dermatologist from Manila Philippines and has been in private practice and in government service since she finished her Dermatology residency training in Makati Medical Center, one of the few training institutions accredited by the Philippine Dermatological Society. She also serves as the Medical Director of Nisce Skin Medispa. As a doctor who majored in Psychology in her undergrad, she has always been inclined to help in the transformative journey of patients, giving lectures on health in different fora. In the past few years she became a practitioner of Functional Medicine, and in 2021 she became the first dermatologist from the Philippines to complete the Integrative Dermatology Certificate Program of LearnSkin.

Dr. Naissan Wesley is an Advanced Aesthetic and Surgical Dermatologist and the Director of Mohs micrographic surgery at Skin Care and Laser Physicians of Beverly Hills. Board-certified and fellowship-trained in cosmetic, surgical dermatology, and Mohs surgery, Dr. Wesley graduated magna cum laude with high honors in biology and art history from University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA). As one of the top college graduates in the nation, she was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. Dr. Wesley completed her medical school and residency at University of California San Francisco (UCSF), where she also graduated at the top of her class and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. At UCSF, she was recipient of the Chancellor Award for Martin Luther King, Jr. Leadership (awarded to only one student annually among all graduate schools) and the National Medical Association’s Emerging Scholar Award. She completed her Mohs, cosmetic and surgical dermatology fellowship at Skin Care Physicians in Boston, MA.

Dr. Wesley is a Clinical Instructor of Dermatologic Surgery at UCLA. She has over 20 honors and awards, authored over 40 publications in leading medical journals and has been quoted in magazines and news outlets nationwide. Dr. Wesley is recognized as a monthly invited journalist for the aesthetic section of Dermatology News since 2009. She was also the guest editor of the first ethnic skin issue of Seminars of Cutaneous Medicine and Surgery.

Dr. Wesley has been an investigator in numerous research studies that have contributed to many of the most cutting-edge procedures performed today in cosmetic dermatology, including Juvederm Voluma, Kybella, Xeomin, Dysport, Ulthera, Coolsculpting, Thermage, Velashape, Artefill, and Miradry.

Dr. Wesley is sought after for her aesthetic skill and ability to rejuvenate faces and skin. From a family of artists and physicians, and with an art background, Dr. Wesley’s approach is that of an artist and a scientist, creating extraordinarily natural results that do not appear overdone. She feels that patients should look natural, revived and refreshed, the best version of themselves (“you, only better”). She has a keen interest in integrative and holistic medicine and dermatology. Dr. Wesley performs Mohs surgery, Botox, Filler, Kybella and PRP injections, Laser procedures, sclerotherapy, scar revision, and more.  Her outside interests include loved ones/family, pilates, yoga, beach cruisers, hiking, photography, travel, and philanthropic efforts for animals, children, and the earth to help make it a better place.
