Summary

Acne is one of the most common skin conditions. It is an inflammatory response of the pilosebaceous units that causes open and closed comedones, pustules, cysts, and nodules.[1] Although quite common, it is also distressing to one’s psyche and can even elicit physical pain to the sufferer.

There are a multitude of factors that contribute to acne flare ups. These include genetics, medical conditions, certain medications, hormone fluctuations, environment, and even the types of food individuals consume. There are many myths and falsehoods out there about the certain types of foods that can affect acne formation. The following information is an overview of the certain types of food and drink that can trigger or hinder an acne response.
