11. Adjunctive Therapies in the Treatment of Eczema

For patients with long-standing AD who have inadequate response with traditional eczema treatments, a common question is, “What’s next?” Many adjunctive therapies are available with varying levels of evidence. Some examples include discussion of the role of humidifiers, managing vasomotor instability, recognizing airborne irritants, and eliminating yeast-allergens.

Educational Objectives

After completing this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Discuss common adjunctive therapies available in treating AD
  • Review acupuncture and acupressure in the management of AD
  • Assess hypnosis, biofeedback, and the mind-body connection in improving AD symptoms
