Description
Research is showing the importance of pH in the pathogenesis of skin disease. Skin pH influences a wide array of physiological processes in skin such as: the activation of enzymes, ceramide production, transepidermal water loss, and the regulation of bacteria. While endogenous factors cannot be altered, physicians have many options when it comes to changing exogenous factors. Addressing skin pH gives doctors a powerful new tool to help patients with conditions like acne and eczema, as well as to improve patients’ overall skin health.
