Rafal Pielak, PhD
Biography
Rafal Pielak, PhD, is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Soteri Skin, a dermatology company developing innovative skincare therapies for atopic dermatitis and other inflammatory skin conditions. He earned his PhD in Biomedical Sciences from Harvard Medical School and completed postdoctoral research in chemistry at the University of California, Berkeley.
Prior to founding Soteri Skin, Dr. Pielak was a founding member of the L'Oréal Technology Incubator in San Francisco, where he introduced new technologies and led the development of products for global skincare brands including La Roche-Posay, SkinCeuticals, and Lancôme.
Inspired by his family's experience with severe eczema, Dr. Pielak founded Soteri Skin to develop therapies that restore the skin's acid mantle and physiological pH rather than relying solely on symptom management. His work focuses on translating advances in skin biology into scientifically grounded formulations that support barrier function, promote microbiome health, and improve outcomes for patients with inflammatory skin diseases.
