Julie Longyear launched Blissoma skincare in 2009 as an activist on behalf of people with sensitive skin. After many misadventures in drugstore aisles and dermatologist offices she determined that the ingredients in most skincare products were actually causing her adult acne, redness, and flaking skin. Longyear combined her chemistry training with her interest in herbalism and devised recipes with fresh, whole plant extracts and nutritious oils. She gave herself clear, healthy skin and embarked on a quest to help other people with sensitivities to synthetic cosmetic ingredients.
Blissoma’s proprietary manufacturing is done at Longyear’s own vertically-integrated herbal manufacturing facility to ensure complete ingredient control. Longyear’s talent for matching phytochemistry with human biology has created an extremely devoted following for the Blissoma brand. Over 20 awards, clinical proof, and 15 years of business success have proven the value of Longyear’s approach.
Julie's expertise in holistic skin health and cosmetic chemistry has been featured by AP News, Happi, Cosmetics Design Magazine, Associated Skincare Practitioners, Formula Botanica, Bust Magazine, Ecocult, Skincare Anarchy and many other publications and podcasts. She loves to write and educate clients about the science of skin health.
Julie is passionate about singing and is currently in the process of rejuvenating her hobby as an operatic soprano. She can be heard singing along with the music at the Blissoma offices daily.

This webinar will delve into the clinical aspects of skin barrier repair and redness recovery, emphasizing the role of plant-based skincare products. Attendees will explore how plant-derived ingredients support skin healing, reduce inflammation, and restore skin balance. Through an evidence-based approach, we will review key plant-based ingredients that aid in barrier recovery and mitigate redness. Participants will also learn how to integrate these products effectively into skincare routines, with a focus on providing solutions for sensitive and compromised skin.

In our recent webinar, Clinical Barrier and Redness Recovery Using Plant-Based Skin Care, Dr. Sarah Jensen and Julie Longyear shared valuable clinical insights into the healing power of nature. Focused on evidence-based strategies, the session explored how plant-derived skincare products support the repair of compromised skin, alleviate redness, and promote overall skin resilience.
