After completing this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify key elements of the history of a dermatology patient using an integrative approach
  2. Recall key parts of the dermatology exam
  3. Distinguish situations which need consultation with a dermatologist

Acne, Rosacea, and Hidradenitis Suppurativa: Background and Basics

Follicular disorders, such as acne, rosacea, and hidradenitis suppurativa are some of the most common skin concerns that both a primary care physician and dermatologist will encounter. In this course you will learn the pathophysiology involved in these disorders and how to distinguish between them.

After completing this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the pathophysiology of common follicular disorders seen in a primary care setting
  2. Recall the diagnostic criteria for acne and rosacea
  3. Differentiate between various follicular disorders (fungal folliculitis vs. bacterial folliculitis vs. acne)

Acne and Rosacea: Conventional Treatment

Several conventional treatments are available to treat acne and rosacea, ranging from topicals or oral medications. In this course you will learn about the different conventional treatments for acne and rosacea and when to use them. After completing this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Select the appropriate topical and/or oral therapy for acne and rosacea patients in the primary care setting
  2. Create a treatment plan for both adults and children with acne and rosacea

Acne and Rosacea: Nutrition and Integrative Approaches

Many integrative approaches have been studied in relation to acne. In this course you will learn about the different integrative treatments for acne and rosacea and how to incorporate them into a comprehensive treatment plan. After completing this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the role of nutrition in acne and rosacea
  2. Diagram the role of the gut-skin axis in acne and rosacea
  3. Formulate an integrative treatment plan for acne and rosacea
