DCIE II Final Project

Due: 1 Year After DCIE Enrollment Date

The goal of the final project is to demonstrate how you have incorporated integrative approaches into your practice through a case review. 

Once completed, please submit as a Word Doc to [email protected].

Please describe one case where you have utilized an integrative approach based on the outline below. This can either be a real case or a hypothetical one for those not seeing patients anymore. Please format your case study in AMA formatting style and include a minimum of 5 references. 

1. Short H&P (1-2 paragraph): Briefly summarize the case and what conventional or non-conventional treatments have been tried. 
2. Integrative treatment plan (1-2 pages):
   1. Integrative treatment (up to 3 paragraphs to summarize the treatment)
      1. What did you choose? Discuss dosing and the treatment that you incorporated to take an integrative approach.
      2. Why did you choose it? Was there a particular mechanism of action or reason that you chose your treatment approach? Please describe. 
   2. Discuss any collaborators who helped you with your case (ND, acupuncturist, other practitioners, etc). It is optional to include collaborators, it is encouraged but not required.
   3. Provide patient consent if photos are included (*photos not recommended)
3. Discussion (1 page): 
   1. Synthesize your case against other similar cases and bring in the literature.
   2. What does this case teach us? 
4. Conclusion (1 paragraph): 
   1. Include at least 3 key takeaways
