Target Audience

This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of clinicians and non-clinicians involved in the care of patients.

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of SynAptiv and LearnHealth. Method Participation

Participants must 1) read the program information, 2) study the educational activity, 3) complete the posttest by recording the best answer to each quiz question, and 4) complete the evaluation form.

A statement of credit will be issued only upon receipt of a completed activity evaluation form and a completed post-test with a score of 70% or better. Statements of credit will be available once the midterm and final exams are completed and evaluation forms submitted.

Nail Health: Pathophysiology Update

This course will review the structure of nails and nail growth as well as review common nail abnormalities.

After completing this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe nail growth
  2. Identify trauma induced nail abnormalities
  3. Summarize the role inflammation plays in nail disorders

Nail Health: Therapeutics Update

This lecture will review the therapies typically used in the treatment of nail infection and nail inflammation particularly onychomycosis.

After completing this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Review the treatment for inflammatory nail disease
  2. Review the treatment for infectious nail disease

Supplements and Botanicals for Healthy Nails

This course will cover supplements marketed for nails, specific nutritional deficiencies that can affect nails, as well as supplements and botanicals that can be important for nail health.

After completing this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify safe supplements for nail health
  2. Describe nail findings that can be seen with specific nutritional deficiencies 
  3. List essential oils that may help treat onychomycosis

Nail Health: Ayurvedic Approach

This lecture will review the Ayurvedic perspective on nail health. We will discuss the nail findings that are common with imbalances in each of the three doshas along with oils and herbs to support nail health. Clinical correlation studies between nail health and general health will also be discussed that are motivated from the Ayurvedic perspectives.

After completing this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Review the Ayurvedic imbalances associated with nails
  2. Review the associations between nail health and bone health
