Update on Pathophysiology

This course will cover the basic pathophysiology of the hair follicle

After completing this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the basic structural components of the hair follicle and hair shaft
  • Recognize where the hair follicle stem cells reside within the follicle
  • Describe the phases of the hair growth structure

Non-Scarring Hair Loss

This course will cover the basic pathophysiology and treatment options – both allopathic and integrative – of nonscarring hair loss

After completing this activity, participants will be able to:

  • List common types of non-scaring hair loss
  • Identify botanical 5-alpha reductase inhibitors
  • Recognize two adaptogens that may be helpful in minimizing the physiologic stress response

Scarring Hair Loss

This course will cover the basic pathophysiology and treatment options – both allopathic and integrative – for scarring hair loss

After completing this activity, participants will be able to:

  • List causes of scarring hair loss
  • Identify supplements that help protect the gut 
  • Explain the role hair style practices have in hair loss
