This session will review the pathophysiology of psoriasis.

After completing this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Recall the pathogenesis of psoriasis
  • Review risk factors for psoriasis
  • Identify comorbidities for psoriasis

Therapeutics Update

Review allopathic treatment approaches to psoriasis

After completing this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Describe four factors to consider when developing a psoriasis treatment plan
  • List four topical treatment options for psoriasis
  • Categorize systemic treatment options for psoriasis

Psoriasis: Let's Get Cooking 

Many patients with psoriasis have tried dietary modifications, which makes it more important than ever that physicians provide evidence-based advice on dietary changes that may help reduce the risk of systemic comorbidities as well as reduce the severity of psoriasis. In this lecture, dietary factors that may act as helpers or triggers for psoriasis will be reviewed.

After completing this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Explain to patients the research supporting the impact of weight loss interventions in overweight or obese patients with psoriasis
  • Identify patients who may benefit from a gluten-free diet
  • Identify patients who may benefit from a structured lifestyle intervention program to prevent diabetes and achieve weight loss
