Many systemic therapies are now available for use in psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis and include the use of biologics and oral medications. This includes specific targeting of TNF and the IL-17/IL-23 pathways as well as the emergence of JAK and TYK2 inhibitors. The role of phototherapy will be discussed.

Description: Psoriasis has several variants, and a careful exam is essential when assessing psoriasis. Scalp psoriasis, inverse psoriasis, genital psoriasis, seborrheic dermatitis, and sebopsoriasis will be discussed along with their clinical mimickers. Credit Type(s): Physicians – AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™ Nurses - Contact Hours This session will be a practical scientific review on the immunology of HS and the role of the local anatomy. The emerging role of the JAK/TEC and IL-17/23 pathways will be emphasized as an emerging understanding of the pathophysiology of this condition.

Psoriasis vulgaris is a heterogeneous, chronic, inflammatory skin disease characterized by thickened, red, scaly plaques and systemic inflammation. The pathogenesis of psoriasis is complex and is driven by pro-inflammatory cytokines like IL-23, IL-17 and TNF, as well as the hyperproliferation of keratinocytes.

Challenging clinical cases of psoriasis and seborrheic dermatitis will be discussed along with a discussion of how to approach topical therapy and when to consider systemic treatments.

Complex plaque psoriasis can be difficult to manage. In this session we'll engage in case based discussions and provide evidence-based guidance on approaching and treating challenging psoriasis cases.

Live, panel-led, case-based discussion about the current immune model of psoriasis, the rapidly evolving therapeutic landscape of psoriasis, and management strategies for complex psoriasis cases using current anti-psoriatic treatments.

Biologics have swept the field of medicine over the last decade and now a wide range of biologic agents are approved for psoriasis. These powerful agents can be life changing for patients with psoriasis but are not for everyone. This activity will review the science behind the different classes of biologics in the treatment of psoriasis.

One-third of adult psoriasis patients develop symptoms starting in childhood. Learn about the diagnostic challenges and management of childhood psoriasis.

Topical creams are often not enough and biologic agents are not for everyone. Traditional immunosupressors such as methotrexate and cyclosporine have long been used for effective treatments for psoriasis. However, knowledge of dosing, monitoring and adverse effects is crucial for appropriate use.
