Atopic Dermatitis Part 1: Pathophysiology

This session will review the pathophysiology and clinical presentation of atopic dermatitis. Potential causes and clinical tools for assessing atopic dermatitis are discussed.

After completing this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Review the pathophysiology of atopic dermatitis
  2. Describe the clinical presentation of atopic dermatitis and differential diagnoses
  3. Discuss validated tools for clinical assessment of atopic dermatitis
  4. Identify potential causes and triggers of atopic dermatitis

Atopic Dermatitis Part 2: Therapy Overview

This session will provide an overview of therapy options for atopic dermatitis. Developing a treatment plan for atopic dermatitis including the use of integrative medicine is discussed.

After completing this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Discuss the evidence for the use of integrative treatment options for patients with atopic dermatitis
  2. Review the risks and benefits of topical and systemic therapies for treating atopic dermatitis
  3. Develop an action plan for patients with atopic dermatitis

Itch and Prurigo Nodularis

This course will cover the basic pathophysiology of different types of itch and discuss therapeutic options for treating itch and prurigo nodularis.

After completing this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Review the pathophysiology of itch and prurigo nodularis
  2. Describe the clinical presentation and differential diagnosis for itch and prurigo nodularis
  3. Discuss work up to consider for itch and prurigo nodularis
  4. Identify topical and systemic treatment for patents with itch and prurigo nodularis

Nutrition, Supplements, and the Microbiome in Atopic Dermatitis

This course will look at the role nutrition and supplements play in atopic dermatitis along with the importance of the microbiome.

After completing this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Review how the skin and gut microbiomes relates to atopic dermatitis
  2. Describe the skin-gut connection
  3. Summarize the evidence for the role of probiotics and supplements

Food Allergies and Testing

When did food get so complicated? Journey through the variations of immune responses to food. This course will review how we become sensitized to foods and offer a guide on testing.

After completing this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Evaluate and review the skin's importance in the pathophysiology of food allergies
  2. Define what increases susceptibility to food allergies
  3. Review the most common types of food allergy tests
  4. Compare data for management of clinical disease
