Ayurvedic Abhyanga’s Effect on Beauty

In this CME Series on Cosmetics, education is provided on an integrative and holistic approach to Aesthetic Medicine. Evidenced-based material is presented from both Western and Eastern medicine concepts (including Ayurvedic and Traditional Chinese Medicine) to denote optimal use of nutrition, procedures, and behavior to age well and enhance beauty. Topics include Yoga and Beauty, Facial Yoga for Facial Rejuvenation, The Gut-Skin Axis and Beauty, Diet and Wrinkles, Alkaline Diet and Skin, Microneedling, PRP and Wrinkle Reduction, The Difference Between the Different Types of Botulinum Toxins Available for Cosmetic Use, Cosmetic Acupuncture for Beauty, Skin Rollers, Facial Gua Sha as a Cosmetic Treatment, and Abhyanga for Beauty in Ayurvedic Medicine.

Target Audience

This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of clinicians and non-clinicians involved in the care of patients within dermatology.

Learning Objectives

After completing this activity, participants will be able to:

1. Describe the key differences with Vata, Pitta and Kapha skin types.
2. Recommend an abhyanga practice and state facts about its benefits on the skin and overall health.
3. Describe the process of the daily face beautification routine in relation to abhyanga.
