Course: The Role of Nutrition, Herbs, and Supplements for Anti-Aging
The Role of Nutrition, Herbs, and Supplements for Anti-Aging
Neha Chandan, MD MPH +1

Food is a vital part in keeping our bodies healthy and fueled. Nutraceuticals are foods or products isolated from herbs and supplements that, apart from providing nutrition to our bodies, also provide additional physiological and medicinal benefits. As integrative approaches are becoming increasingly preferred by patients, dermatologists find themselves turning to the use of nutraceuticals in preventing cutaneous aging. This lecture serves to provide an understanding of the disease processes that contribute to skin aging and how we can combat these mechanisms by the foods we put into our bodies. We discuss dietary modifications and the use of natural herbs and supplements to combat inflammation and oxidative stress and delay the aging process of our skin.
