Explore the pathogenesis of hidradenitis suppurativa (HS), its therapeutic updates, dietary influences, and integrative approaches with botanicals, supplements, and pharmaceuticals.

Diet and Foods
This activity will review the current understanding and evidence for how food and diet may modulate hidradenitis suppurativa.
After completing this activity, participants will be able to:
- Evaluate the evidence for the role of foods in hidradenitis suppurativa
- Review the role of dietary interventions for modulation of hidradenitis suppurativa co-morbidities
- Identify the role of anti-Saccharomyces cerevisiae antigen in identifying food sensitivities in hidradenitis suppurativa
Botanicals and Supplements
This session will introduce topical botanicals and oral supplements that can be helpful in managing HS.
After completing this activity, participants will be able to:
- List 6 oral supplements to recommend to people with HS
- Identify 3 topical botanicals to suggest for people with HS
- List 2 types of tea that may be helpful for people with HS
Practical Integration with Pharmaceuticals
This lecture synthesizes the different perspectives for treating hidradenitis suppurativa. By utilizing the integrative toolkit, we bridge multiple approaches like pharmaceuticals with nutrition with lifestyle with devices to take an integrative approach.
After completing this activity, participants will be able to:
- Integrative approach can be done by focusing on certain areas at each visit rather than trying to do everything at once for HS
- Nutrition and lifestyle coaching can be built into all visits, even if it is just one tidbit of information
- Customize the toolkit based on other co-morbidities or other skin or systemic issues that may be present
