Description

Research is showing that dermatological conditions (such as acanthosis nigricans, acne, psoriasis, and may more) are connected with insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome, diabetes, and obesity. This article explains the difference between insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome, and reviews different clinical tests that can be used to determine each condition. The relevance to dermatological conditions is explained by looking at the pathophysiology of insulin’s effect on the skin for each condition.
