Patients often present to their primary care clinician with various rashes of known or unknown etiology. In this course you will be presented photos of common rashes seen in the primary care setting as well as key points related to each condition.

After completing this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify common rashes seen in the primary care setting
  2. Identify some of the key “must not miss” dermatoses 
  3. Summarize some of the key testing and treatment approaches for these conditions

Psoriasis

Psoriasis is an auto-inflammatory disorder which not only affects the skin, but also the nails and joints, and is associated with cardiovascular morbidity. In this course you will learn about the various types of psoriasis, related comorbidities, and available treatments.

After completing this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify different types of psoriasis and distinguish them from other papulosquamous disorders
  2. Describe various comorbidities to be aware of in patients with psoriasis
  3. List treatments available for psoriasis

Skin Cancer

Skin cancer is the most common cancer in the United States. In this course you will learn about the various types of skin cancer as well as prevention and treatment options.

After completing this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Distinguish between melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancers
  2. Identify risk factors of skin cancer
  3. List preventive measures, including oral and topical antioxidants, for skin cancer
  4. List treatments available for skin cancer

Burns

Patients often initially present to a primary care clinician after sustaining a burn. In this course you will learn about the various types of burns and treatment options.

After completing this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Recall the evaluation and management of various types of burns seen in the primary care setting (thermal burns, sunburn, frost bite, erythema ab igne)
  2. Describe some of the key management principles for different types of burns
