The gut-skin axis plays a key role in identifying root causes of common dermatological conditions. Rosacea, atopic dermatitis, eczema, acne, and more often have root causes stemming from GI pathogens, dysbiosis, parasites, and an unhealthy gut microbiome.
Join Cat Simmons, MS, RDN from Diagnostic Solutions Laboratory as she discusses the gut-skin condition and provides a helpful tutorial to help you learn to use advanced stool testing to address dermatological symptoms.
This lecture is meant to switch your approach with the dermatological patient from WHAT they have to WHY they have it. Through medical curiosity, setting up a differential diagnosis that uses validated labs and understanding what the immune system and skin need to be happy and healthy we can support long term dermatological healing in our patients.
We will review some basic information about climate change and climate science, and focus on the intersection of climate change, medicine, and health. While climate change impacts almost every organ system in the body, we will focus on issues pertaining to dermatology, including skin cancer, inflammatory skin disease, infectious skin disease, and more. We will cover ways for dermatologists to engage and get involved, in their own practice and as part of the field of dermatology and within the house of medicine.
A system of beliefs of engaging in purposeful and conscious actions with the intent of improving one’s health and overall well-being.
October 2025 IDCP Alumni Meetup was a wonderful chance for graduates and faculty to reconnect and share how integrative dermatology continues to shape their practices. Hosted by Dr. Shilesh Iyer, the session highlighted how the program has inspired evidence-based, patient-centered approaches that blend dermatology and wellness. Alumni exchanged practical advice and experiences, from patient education and lifestyle guidance to integrative strategies for hair loss management, and then ending with updates, future plans, and renewed excitement to keep growing together as a community.
Alumni Social Meetup hosted by Dr. InYoung Kim, to explore creative strategies for crafting patient handouts that improve communication and care. An interactive, practical session focused on sharing handouts and discussing what resonates with patients.
