Michelle L. DrapkinFacultyMichelle L. Drapkin, PhD, ABPP, is a board-certified psychologist who owns and operates the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Center, and has worked in behavioral science for over twenty years. She held various roles as a behavioral scientist in industry, including leading the development and deployment of behavior change interventions at Johnson & Johnson. She held a national motivational interviewing (MI) training position at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), and was on faculty at the University of Pennsylvania. Drapkin completed her PhD in clinical psychology from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey; and joined the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT) in 2008. Patricia FarrisFacultyDr. Patricia K. Farris is a board-certified dermatologist and fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. She is past member of the board of directors for the American Academy of Dermatology and an active member of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, Women’s Dermatologic Society, and the American Dermatologic Association.Dr. Farris is a nationally recognized expert in anti-aging therapies. She has lectured and published extensively on cosmeceuticals and topical skin care. She served as editor and contributor to her textbook Cosmeceuticals and Cosmetic Practice. Jean McGeeFacultyDr. McGee is an Assistant Professor of Dermatology at Harvard Medical School and an Associate Physician and the Director of Microbiome Research at the Department of Dermatology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Clinically, Dr. McGee specializes in inflammatory bowel disease-associated dermatoses and enjoys co-managing challenging cases with her GI colleagues. On the research side, she is interested in understanding the role of the microbiome and epigenetics in a wide range of human pathology including immune dysregulation, accelerated aging, increased systemic disease burden, and disruption of the gut-skin axis. Currently, her research is funded by an NIH/NIAMS K23 Award. In the past, she was awarded a Visiting Scholar Award from the Human Skin Disease Resource Center at Brigham and Women's Hospital, a La Roche-Posay Research Grant, a Women’s Dermatologic Society Academic Research Award, and a Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center Stern Grant.
James B. LaValleFacultyJames B. LaValle, R.Ph., C.C.N. M.T. DHM, DHPh. N.D.(trad) is an internationally recognized clinical pharmacist, author, and board-certified clinical nutritionist, with over 40 years of clinical experience in natural products, lifestyle, drug/nutrient depletion, compounding pharmacy, and peptides. LaValle is best known for his expertise in performance health and integrative care. Evangelos V BadiavasFacultyI am an academic dermatologist and dermatopathologist involved in bone marrow stem cell, regenerative medicine and translational research for more than 30 years. I was among the first to describe the trafficking and engraftment of bone marrow cells to wounded skin and the contribution of bone marrow cells to skin structures. I have been the principal investigator on protocols delivering bone marrow derived cells to wounds for more than 20years and was the first to describe the delivery of fresh bone marrow aspirate and mixed cultured bone marrow cells to the chronic wounds.I have been awarded five IND’s by the FDA for the delivery of stem cells and extracellular vesicles to patients with burns, epidermolysis bullosa and chronic wounds. I am among the first to demonstrate that many of the healing effects attributed to bone marrow stem cells are mediated by the extracellular vesicles they produce. My laboratory was the first to show that structural elements including Collagen VII are delivered by bone marrow stem cell derived extracellular vesicles. Our contributions have led to a better understanding of the mechanism by which bone marrow stem cells contribute to healing and tissue regeneration. Having worked in this area for years, I am well versed in all recent regulatory aspects of cell-based therapeutics.My expertise in bone marrow stem cells began some time ago as a graduate. Since then I have completed postdoctoral training, medical school, residence and fellowship in dermatology and dermatopathology. I am a practicing academic dermatologist and dermatolopathologist with 25 years’ experience with particular interests in the histologic evaluation of wounds both clinically and in numerous preclinical models. I have been working with bioengineered skin materials for more than 30 years and have described several key histological features associated with the application of these materials to patients.I have served as a consultant, NIH study section member and moderator for wound based and stem cell projects. I have anextensive and diverse history of close collaboration with several highly regarded stem cell, bone marrow, biomedical engineering, burn/critical care and wound healing investigators. My unique training and experience have allowed me to comfortably move between thesesometimes-distinct fields.

Jack ArbiserFacultyJack L. Arbiser, MD PhD is a key opinion leader in Dermatology. He holds a BS/MS in Organic Chemistry from Emory and MD/PhD from Harvard Medical School. He has nearly 300 publications, 24 issued US Patents and numerous international patents. He mas made many seminal discoveries in dermatology and oncology. These include the first demonstration of phosphoinositol-3 kinase in angiogenesis, reactive oxygen and Akt in melanoma. Most recently, he served as the inaugural Thomas Lawley Professorship in Dermatology. Throuh his studies on ant venom, he has discovered that the skin barrier function is dependent on ceramide metabolism, allowing for the discovery of common pathways underlying psoriasis, eczema and nonmelamoma skin cancer. Dr Arbiser currently practices at Metroderm/UDP, Atlantas largest private practice dermatology group.
April ArmstongFacultyDr. April Armstrong is Professor and Chief of Dermatology at University of California Los Angeles (UCLA). She is an internationally renowned dermatologist and clinical researcher in inflammatory skin diseases including psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, and HS.Dr. Armstrong obtained her medical degree from Harvard Medical School and completed dermatology residency at Harvard. She also obtained a Master of Public Health degree from Harvard School of Public Health. Prior to being the Chief of Dermatology at UCLA, Dr. Armstrong served as Associate Dean for Clinical Research at the University of Southern California (USC), where she led initiatives to improve research infrastructure and streamline processes to provide an efficient environment for research. She also served as Vice Chair in the Department of Dermatology at USC, as well as at the University of California Davis and University of Colorado previously.Dr. Armstrong is a federally funded investigator whose research focuses on (1) evaluating novel systemic and topical therapies for inflammatory skin diseases, (2) identifying treatment goals and comorbidities associated with skin diseases, and (3) increasing patient access using innovative, technology-enabled healthcare delivery methods. Dr. Armstrong has conducted over 150 clinical trials and published over 500 articles in scientific journals.Dr. Armstrong has a long history of service to the medical profession on a national and international level. She serves as a board member of the American Academy of Dermatology, immediate Past Chair of the Medical Board at the National Psoriasis Foundation, Co-President of the Group for Research and Assessment of Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis (GRAPPA), councilor for the International Eczema Council and International Psoriasis Council, and a board member for the International Dermatology Outcome Measures and the California Society of Dermatology and Dermatological Surgery (CalDerm). She is also an editorial board member of JAMA Dermatology and had also served on the editorial boards of JAAD and other journals. Dr. Armstrong is past President of the American DermatoEpidemiology Network and Sacramento Valley Dermatology Society.Dr. Armstrong is also a passionate educator, having mentored numerous medical students, residents, and postdoctoral research fellows. She has received institutional and national teaching awards for her educational efforts.
karen KofflerFacultyDr. Koffler received her medical degree at the University of Miami and did her training in Internal Medicine in Chicago and the University of Colorado. She began her career as an emergency room physician in a variety of settings including Indian Reservations, the Veteran’s Administration, and inner city hospitals prior to helping to develop the first Hospitalist program for Kaiser Permanente in Denver.During her experience working in the hospital and ICU, she realized that the “health care system” operated more as a disease management system, and lacked focus on disease prevention. She became increasingly disconcerted with the status quo and often inadequate approach of medications and surgery to treat diseases already in the later stages of development. She began entertaining the value of preventing disease as a more effective strategy. However, there was little the system offered from that perspective.This questioning led her to being accepted into the first class of physicians trained by Dr. Andrew Weil (the father of Integrative Medicine) at the University of Arizona in 1997. Over the course of 2 years, she expanded her conventional training to include nutrition, herbs, supplements, mind-body therapies, spirituality, Chinese medicine and acupuncture, and other alternative approaches. Upon completion, she was recruited to Northwestern Healthcare in Chicago to design and run an Integrative Medical Center. In 2006, she joined Canyon Ranch to direct their new Health and Wellness Center at Canyon Ranch Miami Beach. She was able to see repeatedly that chronic health issues could be reversed through changes in nutrition, appropriate exercise, supplements, improved quality of sleep, and skills to handle stress.In 2016, she helped launch Rezilir Health, an Integrative Center focused on improving brain health and the reversal of dementia, located in Hollywood, Florida.In her current position, she leads the development of the Osher Center for Integrative Medicine at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Through her work, including clinical, research and education, she hopes to help transform healthcare in the U.S. to include a focus on creating optimal health in addition to treating disease In her personal life, she is committed to what she teaches: mornings start with a meditation, and an Orange Theory workout. He is on faculty at the University of Miami Miler School of Medicine where he is the dermatology residency program director.
Lilit GaribyanFacultyDr. Lilit Garibyan MD, PhD is an Assistant Professor of Dermatology at Harvard Medical School and a Physician-Scientist at the Wellman Center for Photomedicine at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH). Her research focuses on innovative biomedical translational discoveries aimed at identifying novel treatments for dermatologic diseases and beyond. She is an inventor on many patents, some of which has led to the development of startup companies. Her scientific work has focused on pioneering new methods of cooling tissue. Dr. Garibyan has co-authored numerous peer-reviewed original publications. She has lectured at national and international level and has developed a reputation as an expert and leader in dermatology and biomedical innovation. She is also the co-founder and the Director of the “Magic Wand Initiative” and the Virtual Magic Wand programs, which aim to promote and empower clinician-led research and innovation, by teaching them the process of innovation. These programs empower and teach clinicians on how to identify unmet-clinical needs and collaborate with research faculty and industry in finding solutions to these problems. Due to the measurable success that these programs have achieved they have now become nationally and internationally recognized initiatives. As a humanitarian, Dr. Garibyan has pioneered and established sustainable, medical laser clinics in Armenia for effective treatments of scars and vascular anomalies. Her team has taken several lasers to Armenia and has trained Armenian physicians on the use of laser technology to treat life altering skin diseases. Dr. Garibyan recently founded and serves as the President of a nonprofit organization called “Face of Angel” to continue the mission of this humanitarian work. John T. ShenFacultyDr. Shen received his medical degree at Brown University and his undergraduate degree at the University of California, Los Angeles. After an internship at Brown University, Dr. Shen completed his dermatology training at Boston University. A member of the American Academy of Dermatology, Dr. Shen is an expert in non-invasive topical immunotherapy to treat skin cancers and precancers. In private practice for over 15 years at Shen Dermatology in Temecula, CA in San Diego Area. Researchers at University of Miami have found Dr. Shen's combination of topical medicines, known as "The Shen Cocktail", to have a cure rate of 99% for basal cell and squamous cell carcinoma. Born in Taiwan, Dr. Shen is conversant in Chinese. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, hiking, and spending time with family.

Michael Abrouk has pursued this search for meaning in Artificial Intelligence, founding several early stage companies, developing medical devices for FDA approval, and delivering a TED talk on some of his work. He is still actively following that purpose in a tireless effort to further the medical technology used throughout the healthcare landscape and beyond.
Scott ElmanFacultyScott Elman, MD is an Assistant Professor in the Dr. Philip Frost Department of Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Dr. Elman also serves as Assistant Director of Inpatient Dermatology Services at the University of Miami Hospital and Clinics.Dr. Elman received his Medical Degree from Harvard Medical School, where he stayed to complete his combined residency in internal medicine and dermatology. His clinical and research interests include complex medical dermatology, rheumatologic dermatology and inpatient dermatology.
